The leading Zent SC430 spins (or gets help spinning) on lap 71 of 80. The two HSV-010s then sandwich another SC430, sending the HSVs into the grass and severely banging up the front of the remaining Lexus.

Next year they're running an LF-CC. Why they don't just slap some LFA body panels and call it a day is anyone's guess.

It's pretty difficult to market a car that's sold out. Granted, the SC's out of production too, but because that model hasn't been replaced with something similar, they've stuck with it, like Honda using the NSX until 2010. Maybe a year or two ago an LFA shell would've worked as an image booster, but now they'd be replacing one defunct car with another.
But hey, next year they're using whatever their new A5 rival is called.

I want one of those little tracked vehicles that they used to drag the car off of the grass. Not sure what I would actually use it for, but it would be awesome.

But why the SC430 then? It's close to the least sporty car they ever made, and it's not like Lexus has a reputation of making road going race cars, anyway.
Apart from that ... there are or have been cars shaped to look like a CR-Z or a Prius. Nevermind it could be the greatest racing series ever.

Actually when they started using the SC in 2006 it was the closest thing to a sports car they made.

You've got a point there, although that feels like LG taking part. And labeling it like a fridge, because it's the closest thing to a race car they make.

Ah Super GT. The only race series where a Honda CRZ and Toyota Prius run head-to-head with a Lamborghini Gallardo and a Chevy Corvette... And beat them.. :) GT300 class standings at the top of the screen.

Such a shame that the HSV-010 never went into production...it could have been a TL coupe with a TT v6 and SHAWD.

The most bonkers thing about this story is the idea or racing an SC430, even if it is barely more than a silhouette.
The only thing I've ever seen SC430s race for before was parking spots at Nordstrom.
